This page is the complete postal reference for South Delhi. It covers 89 individually verified localities across 26 PIN code clusters, organised three ways: alphabetically, by PIN code cluster, and by the areas people search for most.

Use it to find the PIN code of your locality, check which areas share a PIN code, confirm the post office that serves your address, or navigate straight to a dedicated locality guide. South Delhi’s postal codes run from 110003 to 110080, spread across roughly 56 delivery and sub-delivery post offices, including Head Offices, Sub Offices, and Branch Offices, and this page covers metro connectivity and verified landmarks alongside the postal data itself.

Last Verified: July 2026
Sources cross-referenced: India Post’s official Pincode Search records, Delhi Postal Circle office listings, and individual delivery post office data
Verification approach: every locality and PIN code on this page was checked against India Post’s own records rather than transcribed from a single secondary source. Where a locality’s boundary or naming was ambiguous across sources, that’s called out directly rather than smoothed over. Full detail in Source Transparency and Methodology.

Who this guide is for: residents and tenants confirming an address, property buyers and investors researching a locality, students locating a PG or hostel, courier and delivery users, anyone filling out Aadhaar, passport, GST, or bank KYC forms, and businesses registering an office address. Each of these uses the same underlying data, just from a different starting question.

Five ways to find what you need:

  • Search alphabetically: jump to the Complete Alphabetical List below.
  • Search by PIN code: jump to the PIN Code Directory for a detailed breakdown of each cluster.
  • Search by post office: each locality’s entry in the alphabetical list and PIN directory names its specific delivery post office.
  • Browse by locality: jump to Popular Localities for the most-searched South Delhi areas.
  • Use the search tool: the companion locality search widget below filters all 89 localities instantly by name, PIN, post office, or metro station.

The above table covers the primary PIN codes for South Delhi’s most-searched localities. A small number of border localities (such as R.K. Puram and Bhikaji Cama Place) sit administratively in the New Delhi or South West Delhi postal districts even though they are commonly grouped with South Delhi in everyday use; these are flagged where relevant below.

Understanding South Delhi’s Postal System

A PIN code, or Postal Index Number, is a six-digit code India Post uses to route mail to the correct delivery office. The first digit represents the postal region (1 for Delhi and the northern region), the next two digits narrow it to the specific postal circle, and the final three digits identify the exact delivery post office.

For South Delhi, this means every PIN code starts with 1100, followed by two digits identifying the specific delivery office, for example 110017 for the Malviya Nagar delivery office or 110048 for Greater Kailash.

How Mail Actually Moves: The Postal Hierarchy

Every piece of mail addressed to South Delhi passes through the same basic chain, regardless of which specific locality it’s headed to:

How Mail Actually Moves: The Postal Hierarchy

India Post (national network)
        ↓
Delhi Postal Circle
        ↓
Head Post Office (H.O.)
        ↓
Sub Office (S.O.)
        ↓
Branch Office (B.O.), where one exists
        ↓
Final delivery to your address

A Head Post Office oversees a cluster of Sub Offices in its area and typically handles the fuller range of postal and financial services. A Sub Office handles day-to-day delivery and counter services for a smaller area. A Branch Office is a smaller, often rural or semi-urban outpost that reports up to a Sub Office rather than operating independently, more common in South Delhi’s outer village pockets like Jaitpur or Molarband than in its central localities.

Delivery vs. Non-Delivery Offices

A delivery post office (most H.O.s and S.O.s) delivers mail directly to addresses in its area. A non-delivery post office handles counter services, such as bookings and mail acceptance, but mail addressed to it is actually delivered by a nearby delivery office. Kailash Colony and Masjid Moth, for example, are non-delivery sub-offices whose mail is delivered through the Greater Kailash delivery office, even though all three share PIN code 110048.

Why Nearby Colonies Can Have Different PIN Codes

PIN codes are assigned by delivery post office, not by neighbourhood boundary. Two colonies that sit next to each other on a map, such as Safdarjung Enclave (110029) and Hauz Khas (110016), can carry different PIN codes simply because they are served by different delivery offices, even though they are a short walk apart:

Safdarjung Enclave → 110029
Hauz Khas → 110016

Both are within a few hundred metres of each other near the Ring Road, but each is registered under a different delivery office, which is the only reason their postal codes differ.

Locality vs. Post Office

A locality is a colony or residential area; a post office is the physical delivery point that handles mail for one or more localities. One post office frequently serves several localities at once. Greater Kailash S.O, for instance, handles mail for Greater Kailash I, II, and III, and Kailash Colony, all under the single PIN code 110048.

How to Write a South Delhi Address Correctly

Getting the address format right matters as much as getting the PIN code right, since couriers and India Post both sort primarily by the written locality and PIN, not by GPS coordinates. The standard format is:

[Flat/House Number], [Building or Society Name]
[Street/Road Name]
[Locality Name]
New Delhi
[PIN Code]
Delhi, India

Correctly formatted example:

Flat 204, Ansal Apartments
Aurobindo Marg
Hauz Khas
New Delhi
110016
Delhi, India

A common formatting mistake:

Hauz Khas Village
110017

This example mixes up two different things: Hauz Khas Village is a real place, but it carries PIN code 110016, not 110017, which belongs to the neighbouring Malviya Nagar and Saket cluster. A locality name paired with the wrong PIN code is one of the most common causes of delivery delays in South Delhi, covered in more detail in Common Mistakes below.

Tips for accurate addressing:

  • Always write the specific locality name, not just “South Delhi” or “New Delhi” alone.
  • Include the post office name if the form asks for it separately from the PIN code, since one PIN code can cover multiple sub-offices.
  • Double-check the PIN code against this directory or India Post directly rather than copying it from memory or an old document.

Popular Localities (Featured Section)

The localities below account for the largest share of South Delhi postal and rental searches. Each gets a fuller profile here, covering its postal cluster, connectivity, and why it draws the search volume it does.

Hauz Khas

  • PIN Code: 110016
  • Post Office: Hauz Khas H.O
  • Nearby Areas: Green Park, Safdarjung Enclave, IIT Delhi, SDA
  • Metro Station: Hauz Khas (Yellow Line)
  • Why People Search This Area: Hauz Khas draws search volume for two very different reasons at once: postal and rental information for residents, and Hauz Khas Village’s cafes, galleries, and nightlife for visitors. The Hauz Khas Deer Park and 14th-century fort, built during the Delhi Sultanate era around a reservoir originally constructed for Siri Fort, add a heritage draw on top of that.

Postally, Hauz Khas is one of South Delhi’s largest single clusters. Its PIN code, 110016, is anchored by a Head Post Office rather than a smaller sub-office, and covers a wide surrounding belt that includes Green Park, the Safdarjung Development Area, and the IIT Delhi student corridor (Kalu Sarai, Katwaria Sarai, Ber Sarai). That breadth is exactly why it’s a common reference point for people trying to place other nearby localities: if you know a locality borders Hauz Khas, there’s a good chance it shares the same 110016 code, though this should always be confirmed rather than assumed, as covered in Common Mistakes.

The Hauz Khas metro station on the Yellow Line, combined with the newer IIT Delhi station on the Magenta Line just south of it, gives this cluster two-line access, unusual for a South Delhi locality of its size.

  • Similar Localities: Green Park, SDA, Yusuf Sarai, Kalu Sarai, Katwaria Sarai, Ber Sarai, Adchini (all 110016)
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Saket

  • PIN Code: 110017
  • Post Office: Saket S.O
  • Nearby Areas: Malviya Nagar, Pushp Vihar, Sheikh Sarai, Chirag Delhi
  • Metro Station: Saket (Yellow Line); Saket G-Block (Golden Line, under construction)
  • Why People Search This Area: Saket is searched heavily for its mall cluster (Select Citywalk, DLF Place), Max Super Speciality Hospital, and metro access, making it a frequent reference point for both renters and shoppers. Its shared PIN code with Malviya Nagar and Chirag Delhi (110017) also drives a steady stream of “which PIN code” queries from people addressing couriers or filling government forms.

Saket sits at the centre of what is, by locality count, South Delhi’s single largest PIN cluster: 110017 covers eleven distinct localities, from Malviya Nagar and Panchsheel Park to smaller pockets like Soami Nagar and Navjeevan Vihar. That size is part of why Saket ranks so highly in searches, since its PIN code effectively serves as the reference point for a wide, varied stretch of central South Delhi.

Connectivity here is also set to improve meaningfully: the upcoming Golden Line’s Saket G-Block station will add a second, elevated metro line through the area, with an interchange to a planned Lajpat Nagar spur line, though as of 2026 this remains under construction rather than operational.

  • Similar Localities: Malviya Nagar, Panchsheel Park, Chirag Delhi, Pushp Vihar, Sheikh Sarai (all 110017)
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Greater Kailash

  • PIN Code: 110048
  • Post Office: Greater Kailash S.O
  • Nearby Areas: Kailash Colony, East of Kailash, Nehru Place, Chittaranjan Park
  • Metro Station: Greater Kailash (Magenta Line); Kailash Colony (Violet Line)
  • Why People Search This Area: Greater Kailash is one of South Delhi’s most recognisable premium addresses, and searches split between its M-Block and N-Block markets, its residential character, and confirming that GK-I, GK-II, and GK-III all share the same PIN code (110048), which surprises many first-time searchers.

Greater Kailash-I was developed on land acquired from the villages of Zamrudpur and Devli Gaon, and the wider GK cluster today borders East of Kailash, Nehru Place, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, and Chittaranjan Park, making it a common comparison point across several featured localities on this page. The cluster’s head office is Kalkaji H.O, meaning Greater Kailash’s own delivery office (a sub-office) reports up to the same head office anchoring the much larger 110019 cluster next door.

The area has drawn attention in recent years for redevelopment: older independent bungalows are increasingly rebuilt on the same footprint rather than subdivided, a pattern common across several of South Delhi’s premium postal clusters, not just Greater Kailash.

Defence Colony

  • PIN Code: 110024
  • Post Office: Defence Colony S.O
  • Nearby Areas: Lajpat Nagar, South Extension, Jangpura
  • Metro Station: Lajpat Nagar (Violet Line, nearest)
  • Why People Search This Area: Defence Colony ranks highly for its café-lined market strip and its reputation as one of South Delhi’s most expat- and professional-friendly addresses. Because it shares a PIN code with the much larger Lajpat Nagar market area, a steady share of searches are simply people confirming the two are postally linked despite feeling like distinct neighbourhoods.

Originally developed as a residential colony for retired defence services personnel, the area retains a lower-density, more planned layout than its immediate surroundings, which is part of why it’s frequently searched alongside Golf Links, Jor Bagh, and other established South Delhi bungalow addresses even though it sits in a different postal cluster from all three.

Defence Colony does not have its own dedicated metro station; residents and visitors most commonly use Lajpat Nagar on the Violet Line, a short distance away.

  • Similar Localities: Lajpat Nagar, Amar Colony (both 110024)
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Green Park

  • PIN Code: 110016
  • Post Office: Hauz Khas H.O
  • Nearby Areas: Hauz Khas, Green Park Extension, Safdarjung Enclave
  • Metro Station: Green Park (Yellow Line)
  • Why People Search This Area: Green Park’s own metro station and market draw searches distinct from Hauz Khas, even though both share PIN code 110016. Most queries here are people confirming the exact PIN for courier and KYC purposes, since Green Park is often listed separately from Hauz Khas on property portals despite being postally identical.

The distinction between Green Park and Green Park Extension is a frequent source of confusion, since both fall under the same PIN code and post office but are treated as separate named localities by residents and property listings alike. As with several other pairs on this page (Panchsheel Park/Enclave, South Extension I/II), the safest approach is to verify the specific sub-locality against this directory rather than assume based on the base name.

  • Similar Localities: Hauz Khas, Green Park Extension, SDA, Yusuf Sarai (all 110016)
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Chittaranjan Park (CR Park)

  • PIN Code: 110019
  • Post Office: Chittranjan Park S.O
  • Nearby Areas: Kalkaji, Alaknanda, Nehru Place
  • Metro Station: Kalkaji Mandir (Violet Line / Magenta Line, nearest)
  • Why People Search This Area: CR Park is searched both as a postal reference and as Delhi’s best-known Bengali cultural enclave, with searches spiking around Durga Puja each year. Its shared PIN code with Kalkaji and Nehru Place (110019) makes it a common comparison point for people deciding between the two areas.

CR Park sits within South Delhi’s largest cluster by combined population, 110019, which is anchored by Kalkaji’s Head Post Office and also administratively oversees Greater Kailash’s post office next door. That administrative link is part of why CR Park, Kalkaji, and Greater Kailash are so frequently searched together despite carrying two different PIN codes between them (110019 and 110048 respectively).

  • Similar Localities: Kalkaji, Nehru Place, Alaknanda, Govindpuri (all 110019)
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Mehrauli

  • PIN Code: 110030
  • Post Office: Mehrauli S.O
  • Nearby Areas: Lado Sarai, Chhatarpur, Saket
  • Metro Station: Qutab Minar (Yellow Line)
  • Why People Search This Area: Mehrauli’s search volume comes from three distinct audiences at once: renters looking at its more affordable independent floors, heritage visitors headed to the Qutub Minar, and people trying to correctly address mail to a locality that borders three different PIN code clusters.

Mehrauli is one of Delhi’s oldest continuously inhabited areas, and its postal cluster (110030) reflects that older, more village-like layout: it groups Mehrauli itself with Lado Sarai, Ghitorni, and Sultanpur, several of which retain their original village cores alongside newer residential development. This is also one of the few South Delhi postal clusters set to gain new metro access soon, since the under-construction Golden Line runs directly through the Chhatarpur–Mehrauli corridor just south of here.

Vasant Kunj

  • PIN Code: 110070
  • Post Office: Vasant Kunj S.O
  • Nearby Areas: Vasant Vihar, Mahipalpur, Chhatarpur
  • Metro Station: None operational yet; a Golden Line station is under construction, expected late 2026
  • Why People Search This Area: Vasant Kunj is one of South Delhi’s highest-search-volume localities thanks to its mall cluster (Ambience Mall, DLF Promenade, DLF Emporio) and large gated residential sectors. A significant share of searches specifically ask about its metro status, since it remains one of the few major South Delhi localities still awaiting a direct station.

Vasant Kunj carries a single PIN code, 110070, across all of its sectors (A through D), making it postally simpler than most other large South Delhi localities even though it’s one of the district’s biggest by area. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation confirmed in mid-2026 that tunnelling work on the Golden Line’s Vasant Kunj station had progressed significantly, with the corridor expected to open in phases toward the end of the year, though residents should treat this as a construction-progress update rather than a confirmed opening date.

  • Similar Localities: Vasant Vihar and Chhatarpur are nearby, but carry different PIN codes (110057 and 110074); Vasant Kunj’s own PIN, 110070, covers only its own sectors
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Lajpat Nagar

  • PIN Code: 110024
  • Post Office: Lajpat Nagar S.O
  • Nearby Areas: Defence Colony, South Extension, Moolchand
  • Metro Station: Lajpat Nagar (Violet Line)
  • Why People Search This Area: Lajpat Nagar’s Central Market is one of Delhi’s busiest retail destinations, driving heavy shopping-related search traffic alongside standard postal and rental queries. Its direct metro station and shared PIN code with Defence Colony (110024) are the two most common points of confusion people search to resolve.

The Lajpat Nagar postal cluster is comparatively compact, just Lajpat Nagar, Defence Colony, and Amar Colony, which is unusual for a locality with this much search volume; most of South Delhi’s other high-traffic PIN codes (110016, 110017, 110019) cover far more distinct sub-localities. That compactness is part of why address confusion here tends to be less about which PIN code applies and more about locating the correct block within Lajpat Nagar’s own large market complex.

  • Similar Localities: Defence Colony, Amar Colony (both 110024)
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Kalkaji

  • PIN Code: 110019 Post Office: Kalkaji H.O
  • Nearby Areas: Nehru Place, Govindpuri, Greater Kailash, CR Park
  • Metro Station: Kalkaji Mandir (Violet Line / Magenta Line interchange)
  • Why People Search This Area: Kalkaji is searched heavily around the Kalkaji Mandir temple and the adjacent Lotus Temple, alongside its role as the head post office for a wide South Delhi cluster that also administratively covers Greater Kailash. Its metro interchange status makes it a frequent reference point for connectivity searches too.

As a Head Post Office, Kalkaji occupies a structurally important position in South Delhi’s postal network beyond its own locality: it’s one of only four head offices anchoring the entire district’s postal clusters covered on this page, alongside Lodhi Road, Hauz Khas, and Sarojini Nagar. That administrative weight, combined with a genuine two-line metro interchange, makes Kalkaji one of the better-connected reference points in South Delhi regardless of which specific locality someone is actually searching for.

  • Similar Localities: Nehru Place, Chittaranjan Park, Alaknanda, Govindpuri (all 110019)
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Malviya Nagar

  • PIN Code: 110017
  • Post Office: Malviya Nagar S.O
  • Nearby Areas: Saket, Chirag Delhi, Panchsheel Park
  • Metro Station: Malviya Nagar (Yellow Line)
  • Why People Search This Area: Malviya Nagar consistently ranks among South Delhi’s highest-demand rental localities thanks to its combination of metro access, local markets, and relative affordability compared to neighbouring Saket and Panchsheel Park, all three of which share its PIN code (110017).

Malviya Nagar and Saket function as the two co-primary delivery offices within the 110017 cluster, South Delhi’s largest by locality count. That dual-office structure is unusual among the clusters covered on this page, most of which are anchored by a single delivery office, and reflects just how much residential density this one PIN code covers.

  • Similar Localities: Saket, Panchsheel Park, Chirag Delhi, Pushp Vihar, Sheikh Sarai (all 110017)
  • Dedicated Locality Page: Not yet published.

Why People Search South Delhi PIN Codes

A PIN code shows up on far more than just an envelope. Understanding what it’s actually needed for explains why this page serves such a wide range of visitors.

  • Courier and e-commerce deliveries: Every major courier and delivery platform uses the PIN code as its primary routing field; an incorrect one is the single most common cause of a delayed or misrouted parcel.
  • Passport applications: The Passport Seva portal requires a verified PIN code as part of address proof, and it needs to match the locality named elsewhere in the application.
  • Aadhaar enrolment and updates: UIDAI’s enrolment and address-update forms require a PIN code that matches the supporting address document submitted.
  • Bank KYC: Opening an account or updating know-your-customer details requires an address with a PIN code that matches the proof of address provided, since banks cross-check this against the documents on file.
  • GST registration: A business’s GST registration is tied to its principal place of business, which must include a correct, verifiable PIN code as part of the registered address.
  • Property registration: Delhi’s property registration and stamp duty documents require the exact locality and PIN code of the property, which must match municipal and revenue records.
  • Rental agreements: A tenancy agreement’s address block, along with the mandatory police verification form for tenants in Delhi, needs an accurate PIN code matched to the correct post office.
  • Electricity and water connections: BSES (for electricity) and the Delhi Jal Board (for water) both register new connections against a specific address including PIN code, which then appears on every subsequent bill.
  • Company registration: A company’s registered office address, filed with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, requires a verified PIN code as part of its official address of record.
  • Government scheme and welfare applications: Many state and central government applications, from ration cards to scholarship portals, use PIN code as a basic address-verification field.

Across nearly all of these use cases, the common failure point is the same: a PIN code that doesn’t match the specific locality named elsewhere on the same form, which is exactly what the Complete Alphabetical List and PIN Code Directory on this page are built to prevent.

Courier Services in South Delhi

South Delhi is served by India Post alongside all of the country’s major private logistics networks, including Blue Dart, DTDC, Delhivery, XpressBees, Ecom Express, and Shadowfax. Each operates its own delivery network, but all of them rely on the same underlying PIN code system to route packages to the right area, which is why an incorrect PIN code causes problems regardless of which courier is used.

Why PIN codes matter for courier delivery

Private couriers generally sort and assign delivery routes by PIN code first, then resolve the exact address within that PIN code’s coverage area. A correct PIN code with an imperfect address usually still arrives; a perfect address with the wrong PIN code often gets routed to the wrong local hub entirely, adding a day or more even after the error is caught.

Common causes of failed or delayed deliveries

The two most frequent issues are a PIN code that doesn’t match the stated locality (for example, entering 110017 for an address that’s actually in the neighbouring 110016 cluster) and a locality name the courier’s system doesn’t recognise, often because it’s a smaller sub-colony not indexed in the courier’s own address database. Newer developments and less common locality names, several of which appear in the Complete Alphabetical List above precisely because they’re easy to get wrong, are the most exposed to this second issue.

Address verification

Most couriers now auto-suggest or auto-correct a PIN code once a society or building name is entered, which is generally reliable for established addresses but less so for newly registered ones. When a courier’s suggested PIN code differs from what you expected, cross-checking it against this directory or India Post’s own tool before confirming the order is the fastest way to avoid a failed delivery.

Most Confused Areas

Certain groups of South Delhi localities are consistently searched together because they’re easy to assume share, or don’t share, the same PIN code. These tables resolve the most common mix-ups directly.

Everyone assumes these are different codes. They’re all 110016:

How These Pieces Connect

Every locality on this page fits into the same chain of relationships:

Locality
    ↓
PIN Code
    ↓
Delivery Post Office
    ↓
Metro Station (where one exists)
    ↓
Nearby Localities (same PIN cluster)

This is the structure behind every table on this page: the Complete Alphabetical List and PIN Code Directory both walk this same chain, just starting from a different end of it.

These comparisons stick to postal and connectivity facts we’ve verified. Rental price and population figures vary by source and change often enough that we’ve deliberately left them out of these tables rather than publish a number we can’t stand behind; the Rental Perspective section below points to our companion rental guide for that data instead.

Rental Perspective: PIN Codes and South Delhi’s Rental Market

Since postal clusters and rental hotspots in South Delhi overlap heavily, it’s worth connecting the two, without inventing numbers this page can’t verify. Our companion guide, South Delhi Localities: Complete Guide to All Areas, Pincodes & Rent, already categorises the district’s rental market in detail; the summary below draws directly from that published categorisation rather than presenting separate figures here.

PIN CodeLocalitiesRental Tier (per our rental guide)Why Renters Search It

For specific rent ranges, budget-wise breakdowns, and a fuller locality-by-locality rental categorisation, the complete rental guide is the more current and detailed source; this page’s focus stays on postal accuracy rather than duplicating that market data.

Evolution of South Delhi’s Postal Network

India’s PIN code system was introduced nationally in 1972, giving every existing post office a standardised six-digit code for the first time. South Delhi’s postal network grew up around a mix of much older village settlements and comparatively recent planned development, and that layered history still shows in the district’s PIN clusters today.

Localities like Mehrauli, Chhatarpur, Khirki, and Shahpur Jat trace back to villages that predate Delhi’s twentieth-century expansion by centuries; Mehrauli in particular is one of Delhi’s oldest continuously inhabited areas. Around and between these older villages, government-planned residential colonies, Greater Kailash, Defence Colony, South Extension, and similar, were developed through the mid-twentieth century as Delhi’s population grew after independence, generally with a single dedicated post office anticipated for each new colony from the outset.

As South Delhi continued to urbanise through the later twentieth century, particularly through the growth of areas like Vasant Kunj, Saket, and the Okhla industrial belt, India Post added new delivery offices to keep pace, which is part of why some of today’s PIN clusters (Malviya Nagar/Saket at 110017, for instance) cover a wide, varied set of localities that developed at different times but ended up served by the same expanding office.

The most recent chapter in that evolution isn’t a new PIN code at all, it’s DIGIPIN, covered above, which adds a precision layer on top of the existing decades-old PIN system rather than replacing it.

Most Frequently Referenced South Delhi PIN Codes

This isn’t a ranking from search-volume tools; we don’t have verified keyword data to back a precise “most searched” order, and presenting one without that data would be a guess dressed up as a fact. What we can say reliably, based on the number of localities, markets, and landmarks each PIN code covers, and how often each comes up across South Delhi property, transport, and postal content, is that these ten clusters are the ones most South Delhi searches ultimately resolve to:

PIN Code Lookup by Hospital

Because several major hospital chains operate more than one South Delhi facility under the same brand name, this table lists each specific hospital, not just the brand, to avoid the exact kind of ambiguity that causes address mix-ups.

Find Any South Delhi PIN Code Quickly

If your locality isn’t covered above, or you want to double-check a PIN code before using it on an official document, these methods work reliably.

Method 1: Search by locality

Use the Complete Alphabetical List on this page, or search “[your locality] PIN code” directly. Most South Delhi localities return a consistent, well-documented result.

Method 2: Search by PIN code

If you know the PIN but not which localities it covers, use the PIN Code Directory above, which groups every code covered on this page with its full list of localities.

Method 3: Use India Post’s official tool

India Post’s Pincode Search tool (indiapost.gov.in) is the authoritative source for every PIN code in the country. It’s the right place to go for a final check before submitting anything official.

Method 4: Verify using Google Maps

Searching your building or society name on Google Maps often shows the PIN code directly in the address details, which is useful for newer developments not yet reflected in postal directories.

Method 5: Check official address documents

If you already have a utility bill, Aadhaar card, or rental agreement for the address, the PIN code printed there has already been verified against India Post’s records and is the safest reference for that specific address.

Method 6: Check a recent electricity or water bill

BSES and Delhi Jal Board bills list the registered PIN code for the connection address, which is a fast, no-cost way to confirm a code you already suspect but want to double-check.

Method 7: Use a courier or e-commerce platform’s serviceability check

Most major courier and delivery platforms auto-populate the PIN code once you enter a locality or society name, and cross-referencing two or three independent platforms is a reasonable sanity check if their results agree.

Method 8: Ask at the local post office directly

For older properties, unusual addresses, or a locality that straddles two clusters, the delivery post office staff for the area will know the correct code with more certainty than any online tool, since they handle the actual delivery routing day to day.

For anything going on a legal document, bank KYC form, or government application, Method 3 (India Post’s own tool) should always be your final check, since postal boundaries occasionally get updated and no third-party directory, including this one, updates in perfect real time.

How India Post Assigns PIN Codes

PIN codes exist to solve a routing problem, not a naming one. Before the system was introduced in 1972, mail was sorted largely by handwritten place names, which broke down as India’s postal volume and place-name overlaps grew. A standardised numeric code let sorting offices route mail mechanically rather than relying on staff recognising every place name by hand.

Each PIN code is built around a delivery office’s coverage area, not a locality’s administrative or colloquial boundary. When India Post opens a new delivery office or reorganises an existing one, it draws that office’s coverage area based on delivery logistics: road access, the volume of mail the area generates, and the practical radius a postal worker can cover, not around where one neighbourhood’s identity ends and the next one’s begins.

This is the single most important thing to understand about why South Delhi’s PIN codes look the way they do. Locality boundaries, as residents or property listings describe them, do not determine PIN codes. Delivery office coverage areas do. Two colonies can be adjacent on a map and postally unrelated, while two colonies with very different characters and separated by a busy road can share the same code, simply because the same delivery office happens to cover both. This is why Safdarjung Enclave and Hauz Khas, a few hundred metres apart, carry different codes (110029 and 110016 respectively), while Greater Kailash I, II, and III, spread across a wider area with distinct market identities, all share 110048.

The practical implication is that no amount of geographic intuition substitutes for checking the specific locality against a verified source. This directory, organised by both locality name and PIN code, exists precisely to make that check fast.

PIN Code Structure: What Each Digit Means

1 1 0 0 1 7
↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓
Region → Sub-Region → Sorting District → Delivery Office

Breaking down 110017 as an example: the first digit (1) identifies India’s northern postal region. The first two digits together (11) identify the Delhi sub-region. The first three digits (110) identify the sorting district, in this case covering all of Delhi. The final three digits (017) identify the specific delivery office, in this case Malviya Nagar. This is why every South Delhi PIN code begins with 110, and why the differences that actually matter for finding the right code are all in the last three digits.

Postal Hierarchy Explained

Every South Delhi delivery office fits into the same national structure:

India Post (national network)
        ↓
Delhi Postal Circle
        ↓
Head Post Office (H.O.)
        ↓
Sub Office (S.O.)
        ↓
Branch Office (B.O.), where one exists
        ↓
Final delivery to your address
  • A Head Post Office (H.O.) oversees a cluster of Sub Offices in its area and typically offers the fuller range of postal, banking, and passport-related services. South Delhi’s clusters covered on this page are anchored by four head offices: Lodhi Road, Hauz Khas, Kalkaji, and Sarojini Nagar.
  • A Sub Office (S.O.) handles day-to-day delivery and counter services for a smaller area and reports up to its Head Office. Most of the specific delivery offices named throughout this directory, Malviya Nagar S.O, Saket S.O, Defence Colony S.O, and similar, are Sub Offices.
  • A Branch Office (B.O.) is a smaller, often semi-rural or outer-village outpost that reports up to a Sub Office rather than operating independently. This is more common in South Delhi’s outer belt, Jaitpur, Molarband, and similar pockets, than in its central localities.
  • A delivery office delivers mail directly to addresses in its coverage area. A non-delivery office handles counter services and mail acceptance, but the actual delivery for its area is carried out by a nearby delivery office. Kailash Colony S.O and Masjid Moth S.O, for example, are non-delivery offices whose mail is delivered through the Greater Kailash delivery office, despite all three sharing PIN 110048.

How Mail Travels Inside South Delhi

A letter or parcel addressed to a South Delhi locality generally follows this path:

Sender
    ↓
Regional Sorting Centre
    ↓
Delhi Postal Circle
    ↓
South Delhi Head Post Office
    ↓
Sub Office (based on PIN code)
    ↓
Postman / delivery staff
    ↓
Recipient

Mail first reaches a regional sorting centre, where it’s sorted by PIN code rather than by the written locality name; this is why an accurate PIN code matters more for speed than a beautifully formatted address with an incorrect code. From the sorting centre, mail bound for a 110XXX code is routed to the Delhi Postal Circle, then to the relevant Head Post Office for that cluster, then to the specific Sub Office responsible for the exact PIN, and finally to a postman or delivery agent who covers that office’s local beat. Every step after the sorting centre depends on the PIN code being correct; a wrong or approximate code sends the item to the wrong Sub Office, which is the single most common cause of delayed delivery covered in Common Mistakes below.

PIN Code vs. DIGIPIN

India Post has been rolling out a second, more precise addressing layer alongside the traditional PIN code system: DIGIPIN, short for Digital Postal Index Number. Developed with IIT Hyderabad and ISRO’s National Remote Sensing Centre, DIGIPIN assigns a unique 10-character alphanumeric code to every 4-metre-by-4-metre grid square in India, based on GPS coordinates, rather than to a broad delivery-office area the way a six-digit PIN code does.

The two systems solve different problems. A PIN code tells a sorting system which delivery office should handle an item; a DIGIPIN identifies the exact physical spot an item needs to reach, accurate to a few metres rather than an entire neighbourhood. DIGIPIN is a complement to the existing address system, not a replacement for it: as of 2026, residents should continue using their standard PIN code on forms, couriers, and official documents, while DIGIPIN is gradually being layered in for use cases like emergency response, e-commerce delivery precision, and locating addresses in areas with inconsistent street numbering.

For South Delhi residents specifically, a DIGIPIN can be generated for free through India Post’s official “Know Your DIGIPIN” tool, using either GPS or manually entered coordinates. Which one you should use today: PIN code for anything official (forms, KYC, registration), and DIGIPIN as an optional, more precise addition where a service explicitly supports it.

PIN Code vs. ZIP Code

“PIN code” and “ZIP code” are often used interchangeably by people used to US addressing conventions, but they’re separate systems from separate postal authorities. India’s PIN (Postal Index Number) code is a six-digit code introduced by India Post in 1972; the United States’ ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) code is a five-digit (or nine-digit, in its extended ZIP+4 form) code introduced by the US Postal Service in 1963. The underlying idea, a numeric code that routes mail to a specific area, is similar, but the two systems are not interchangeable, use different digit counts, and are administered by entirely different postal authorities. If a form or website asks for a “ZIP code” for an Indian address, your six-digit PIN code is the correct entry.

Why Postal Boundaries Change

Established localities rarely see their PIN code change, but India Post does periodically adjust delivery office boundaries for a few specific reasons: population growth in a previously smaller area eventually justifies splitting it into two delivery offices; a newly developed pocket needs its own dedicated post office rather than being served at a distance; or an administrative restructuring consolidates two under-used offices into one. South Delhi’s older, established clusters covered on this page (Hauz Khas, Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar, and similar) have generally carried the same PIN code for decades. Newer or rapidly developing pockets are the more likely candidates for a future boundary adjustment, which is one more reason to verify a PIN code against a current source rather than an old document for any address in a newer development.

Understanding Postal Boundaries

Why one colony can have multiple PIN codes

Large localities are sometimes split across more than one delivery post office as they’ve grown. Lajpat Nagar, for instance, is administratively one locality but its various blocks are served through offices that all still resolve to 110024, while a physically adjacent but administratively distinct pocket can carry a different code entirely.

Why neighbouring colonies often use different post offices

Post office boundaries were drawn around delivery logistics, not neighbourhood identity. Safdarjung Enclave (110029) sits a short walk from Hauz Khas (110016), but the two are served by entirely separate delivery offices, so their PIN codes don’t match despite the geographic proximity, as shown in the boundary example earlier on this page.

Common address mistakes

The most frequent error is assuming a PIN code based on a nearby, better-known locality rather than checking the specific one. Someone in Panchsheel Enclave, for example, might assume it shares Panchsheel Park’s PIN code by name alone, when the correct verification is to check the specific post office each falls under; in this case both do carry 110017, but that shouldn’t be assumed without checking.

How postal boundaries differ from municipal boundaries

A PIN code boundary is drawn by India Post around a delivery office’s coverage area. A municipal ward or constituency boundary is drawn by Delhi’s civic and electoral bodies for entirely different administrative purposes. The two maps rarely align exactly, which is why a locality can sit in one municipal ward but a postal cluster that also includes parts of a neighbouring ward. This page focuses specifically on postal boundaries; for municipal ward or constituency information, Delhi’s Municipal Corporation and State Election Commission are the correct official sources.

Understanding Administrative Boundaries in South Delhi

South Delhi residents regularly encounter several different, overlapping ways their area gets categorised, and it’s worth being clear about which one this page is actually about.

  • Postal district (what this page covers) is drawn by India Post around delivery office coverage areas, as explained throughout this guide. It determines your PIN code and which post office handles your mail.
  • Revenue/administrative district is a separate categorisation used by Delhi’s government and land records. Most localities covered on this page fall in what is administratively called South Delhi district, but a handful of border localities, Safdarjung Enclave and R.K. Puram among them, are administratively recorded under South West Delhi or New Delhi district depending on the source consulted, even though they’re commonly grouped with South Delhi in everyday and real estate use.
  • Municipal zones, under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) or, for a small part of central Delhi, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), govern civic services like roads, sanitation, and property tax, and follow their own ward boundaries that don’t map directly onto postal or revenue districts.
  • Assembly and parliamentary constituencies are drawn by the Election Commission for electoral purposes and follow yet another boundary set, redrawn periodically through delimitation, that also doesn’t align with postal clusters.

The practical takeaway: a form or process asking for your “district,” “ward,” or “constituency” is asking about a different boundary system than the PIN code system this page covers, and the correct answer for each should come from the specific authority that governs it, Delhi’s Revenue Department for administrative district, the MCD for municipal ward, and the Election Commission for constituency, rather than assumed from your postal PIN code.

Interesting Postal Facts

  • PIN code 110017 (Malviya Nagar, Saket, and Panchsheel Park) is South Delhi’s largest postal cluster by number of localities covered, at eleven.
  • 110048 covers all three sectors of Greater Kailash, GK-I, GK-II, and GK-III, plus Kailash Colony, under one code.
  • 110016 includes IIT Delhi and the entire Hauz Khas-Green Park student and professional belt.
  • 110030 includes the Qutub Minar, one of India’s most visited heritage sites, within its postal cluster.
  • 110019 contains Nehru Place, Delhi’s largest IT hardware and services market.
  • Every South Delhi PIN code begins with 110, since the first three digits identify Delhi as a single postal sorting district; only the final three digits vary by delivery office.
  • South Delhi’s PIN codes span a numeric range from 110003 to 110080, but the codes are not sequential by geography, 110003 and 110013 are adjacent numerically but describe different, non-adjacent parts of the district.

South Delhi PIN Code Map

South Delhi’s postal clusters follow a rough north-to-south pattern that maps loosely onto three zones:

  • Northern South Delhi: (110003, 110013, 110014, 110024) sits closest to central Delhi and Lodhi Gardens, and includes Jor Bagh, Nizamuddin, Jangpura, Lajpat Nagar, and Defence Colony.
  • Central South Delhi: (110016, 110017, 110019, 110048, 110049) covers the district’s largest and most searched cluster of localities, including Hauz Khas, Malviya Nagar, Saket, Kalkaji, Greater Kailash, and South Extension.
  • Southern South Delhi: (110020, 110030, 110044, 110062, 110065, 110070, 110074, 110076, 110080) covers the outer belt, including Mehrauli, Chhatarpur, Vasant Kunj, Sangam Vihar, Sarita Vihar, and the Tughlakabad-Badarpur border.

Within that broad north-south pattern, South Delhi also has a genuine east-west lean worth knowing, though it doesn’t split as cleanly into its own zones the way north-central-south does. The eastern edge (110025, 110076, 110044, 110020, and East of Kailash within 110065) runs along the district’s border with Noida and Faridabad, following the Mathura Road/Kalindi Kunj corridor. The western edge (110070, 110057, and 110047) sits toward Gurugram, anchored by Vasant Kunj and Vasant Vihar. Most of South Delhi’s remaining PIN codes sit in the central corridor between these two edges rather than leaning distinctly east or west.

An interactive map isn’t embedded on this page, but cross-referencing a locality against its zone above, then checking the matching PIN code in the directory, gets you the same result.

Common Mistakes People Make

Assuming nearby colonies share a PIN code

Physical proximity doesn’t guarantee a shared postal code, as shown throughout the directory above. Always verify the specific locality rather than inferring from a well-known neighbour.

Using old addresses

PIN codes rarely change, but post office names and boundaries occasionally get reorganised as an area develops. An address copied from an old document is usually still correct, but it’s worth a quick cross-check if the document is more than a few years old.

Confusing locality names

South Delhi has several similarly named localities, Sarai Kale Khan versus Sarojini Nagar, or Sant Nagar versus Sadiq Nagar, that are easy to mix up when typing quickly. A mistyped locality name is one of the most common causes of an incorrect PIN code lookup.

Using builder or marketing names instead of official locality names

New developments are often marketed under a project or sector name that doesn’t match the official postal locality. When in doubt, check the surrounding established locality name rather than the marketing name.

Ignoring post office names on forms

Many government and bank forms ask for the post office name, not just the PIN code. Since one PIN code can cover several sub-offices, using the correct specific post office name, not just the correct six digits, avoids processing delays.

Confusing a metro station name with the locality’s postal name

Metro stations are sometimes named slightly differently from the locality they serve, for example Kalkaji Mandir station versus the locality name Kalkaji, or Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh station versus the locality Jasola. The metro name is a wayfinding label, not necessarily the exact postal locality name to use on an address.

Assuming South Delhi has a single PIN code for the whole district

As covered in the FAQ below, South Delhi is covered by 26 different codes, not one, so “South Delhi” alone is never a complete or correct PIN code entry on any form.

Getting the administrative district wrong for border localities

A handful of localities commonly grouped with South Delhi in everyday use, such as Safdarjung Enclave or R.K. Puram, technically sit in the South West Delhi or New Delhi postal district depending on the source consulted. This rarely affects the PIN code itself, but it can cause confusion on forms that separately ask for a “district” field.

Treating a village core and its newer extension as automatically identical

Several South Delhi localities, Ghitorni, Sultanpur, and Chhatarpur among them, have both an original village core and a newer residential extension. These usually, but not always, share a PIN code, so it’s worth confirming rather than assuming for anything official.

Relying on a single online source without cross-checking

Third-party PIN code directories, including this one, are only as accurate as their last update. For anything time-sensitive or official, cross-referencing at least one additional source, ideally India Post’s own tool, catches the rare cases where a directory has fallen out of date.

These mistakes happen because India’s postal system is organised around delivery logistics built up over decades, not around how residents colloquially group neighbourhoods today. Checking the specific locality against an authoritative source, rather than assuming from a nearby landmark or a similar-sounding name, avoids nearly all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the PIN code of South Delhi?

South Delhi doesn’t have one single PIN code. It’s covered by 26 different codes ranging from 110003 to 110080, each assigned to a specific delivery post office rather than the district as a whole. To find the correct one, look up your specific locality in the Complete Alphabetical List above rather than searching for a single “South Delhi PIN code.”

Which locality has PIN code 110017?

PIN code 110017 covers Malviya Nagar, Saket, Panchsheel Park, Panchsheel Enclave, Chirag Delhi, Pushp Vihar, Sheikh Sarai, Khirki Extension, Soami Nagar, and Navjeevan Vihar. It’s South Delhi’s largest postal cluster by locality count, anchored by the Malviya Nagar and Saket delivery offices.

Which PIN code covers Hauz Khas?

Hauz Khas carries PIN code 110016, the same code shared by Green Park, Green Park Extension, the Safdarjung Development Area (SDA), Yusuf Sarai, Kalu Sarai, Katwaria Sarai, Ber Sarai, and Adchini. The Hauz Khas Head Post Office anchors this cluster.

Which PIN code covers Greater Kailash?

Greater Kailash I, II, and III all share PIN code 110048, along with Kailash Colony and Masjid Moth. This surprises many people searching specifically for a “GK-1 PIN code” or “GK-2 PIN code,” since all three sectors of Greater Kailash use the identical postal code.

Which post office serves my locality?

Check your locality against the Complete Alphabetical List or the relevant PIN Code Directory section above, both of which list the specific delivery post office for each locality. For a final, authoritative check, India Post’s own Pincode Search tool at indiapost.gov.in will confirm the exact post office for any address.

Can one locality have multiple PIN codes?

It’s uncommon but not impossible, usually when a large locality spans more than one delivery post office’s coverage area, or when its boundary sits close to two clusters. Most South Delhi localities carry a single, consistent PIN code, but if you find conflicting information for a specific address, verifying against India Post’s official tool is the safest way to resolve it.

How do I verify the correct PIN code?

The most reliable method is India Post’s own Pincode Search tool, since it’s the authoritative source every other directory, including this one, is ultimately built from. Cross-checking against a recent utility bill or bank statement for the same address is a fast secondary confirmation if you already have one on hand.

Which is the largest PIN code cluster in South Delhi?

By number of localities covered, 110017 (Malviya Nagar, Saket, Panchsheel Park, Chirag Delhi, Pushp Vihar, and several smaller colonies) is South Delhi’s largest cluster with 11 localities, followed closely by 110016 (Hauz Khas, Green Park, SDA, and the IIT-adjacent student belt) with 10. By population, 110019 (Kalkaji, Nehru Place, CR Park, Alaknanda) is generally considered the largest.

Are PIN codes updated?

Yes, though infrequently. India Post occasionally reorganises delivery boundaries or adds new sub-offices as an area develops, particularly around newer or rapidly growing localities. Established South Delhi localities covered on this page have generally carried the same PIN code for decades, but newly developed pockets are the most likely to see changes.

Where can I check official postal information?

India Post’s official website, indiapost.gov.in, is the definitive source for PIN codes, post office locations, and delivery status across India. Its Pincode Search tool should be your final reference point for anything used on a legal, financial, or government document.

Why is my courier tracking showing a different PIN code than I entered?

This usually means the courier’s own address-matching system auto-corrected to what it has on file for your building or society, which can occasionally differ from the PIN code you’d find by searching the locality name alone, especially for newer developments. If the difference is only in the last digit or two of a South Delhi code, it’s often still routing to a valid nearby delivery office; if it’s a completely different area code, it’s worth flagging with the courier directly.

Why does Google Maps show a different PIN code than what I expected?

Google Maps pulls PIN code data from a mix of user contributions and third-party mapping sources, which aren’t always as current as India Post’s own records. When the two disagree, India Post’s official Pincode Search tool should be treated as the authoritative answer.

Can two societies in the same complex have different PIN codes?

It’s rare within a single, unified housing complex, but it can happen at the edge of a large development that straddles two delivery office boundaries. If you’re unsure, checking a neighbour’s confirmed address or asking the local post office directly resolves it faster than any online tool.

Do PIN codes ever change?

Established localities rarely see their PIN code change outright, but India Post does occasionally split a delivery office’s coverage area as a locality grows, which can shift a specific street or sector to a new code. This is uncommon in South Delhi’s older, established clusters and more likely in newer or rapidly developing pockets.

Is Vasant Kunj’s PIN code the same across all its sectors?

Yes. Vasant Kunj carries a single PIN code, 110070, across Sectors A through D, which makes it postally simpler than most other large South Delhi localities despite its size.

What’s the difference between a Head Post Office and a Sub Post Office for everyday use?

For day-to-day mail and courier purposes, there’s no practical difference; both deliver mail to their coverage area. A Head Post Office (H.O.) typically also offers a fuller range of financial and passport-related services and administratively oversees nearby Sub Offices (S.O.), which is more relevant to postal staff and administration than to someone simply sending or receiving mail.

Which South Delhi PIN codes are getting new metro stations soon?

Several PIN codes are set to gain new Delhi Metro Golden Line stations once the Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor opens: 110070 (Vasant Kunj), 110074 (Chhatarpur), 110068 (Neb Sarai, IGNOU), 110017 (Saket G-Block, Pushp Vihar), 110062 (Khanpur, Sangam Vihar-Tigri), and 110044 (Tughlakabad). As of mid-2026 this line remains under construction; treat any specific opening date as provisional until DMRC confirms it.

Do I need a DIGIPIN, or is my PIN code enough?

For everyday use, your standard six-digit PIN code remains what you should use on forms, KYC documents, and courier addresses. DIGIPIN is a newer, more precise 10-character digital layer that pinpoints an exact 4-metre location rather than a whole delivery area, and it’s being adopted gradually for specific use cases like e-commerce and emergency response rather than replacing the PIN code system outright. You can generate one for free through India Post’s “Know Your DIGIPIN” tool if a specific service asks for it.

Can neighbouring buildings have different PIN codes?

It’s uncommon within the same street or block, but it can happen right at the edge of a delivery office’s coverage boundary, where one side of a road falls under one office and the other side falls under a neighbouring one. If two adjacent buildings show different PIN codes, that’s worth verifying against India Post directly rather than assuming it’s an error, since edge-of-boundary cases like this are one of the few situations where it’s genuinely correct.

Can a builder or developer advertise an incorrect PIN code?

It happens more often than it should, usually because a project is marketed under a new sector or society name before India Post has formally assigned or publicised its delivery office. This is one of the “builder marketing name” issues covered in Common Mistakes above. For a property still under construction or recently completed, the safest approach is confirming the PIN code with India Post directly rather than relying solely on the developer’s marketing material or brochure.

How many PIN codes are there in South Delhi?

This page covers 26 distinct PIN codes across South Delhi, ranging from 110003 to 110080. That figure reflects the codes covering the district’s most commonly searched and highest-population localities rather than every conceivable sub-code; a small number of narrower or newly assigned codes may exist beyond what’s documented here.

What happens if I use the wrong PIN code?

For courier and e-commerce delivery, an incorrect PIN code typically routes the item to the wrong sorting office first, which usually still arrives but with a delay of a day or more once the error is caught and corrected. For official documents, banking KYC, or government applications, an incorrect PIN code can cause a mismatch against your proof of address, leading to the application being flagged or rejected rather than silently corrected. It’s worth verifying before submitting anything official, not just for courier convenience.

Can multiple post offices share one PIN code?

Yes, and it’s common rather than exceptional. A single PIN code is typically anchored by one primary delivery office, but can include several non-delivery sub-offices whose mail is routed through that primary office. PIN 110048 is a good example: Greater Kailash S.O is the delivery office, while Kailash Colony S.O and Masjid Moth S.O are non-delivery offices sharing the same code.

Editorial Standards, Source Transparency, and Methodology

Editorial standards:

  • Postal data manually verified against India Post, not auto-generated or scraped
  • Cross-checked against a second independent source before inclusion
  • Reviewed on the cycle noted at the bottom of this section
  • Updated when postal boundaries, metro status, or locality naming changes

This page draws on the following sources, cross-referenced against each other rather than relied on individually:

  • India Post’s official records, accessed via India Post’s own Pincode Search tool and via finkode.com, a directory that mirrors India Post’s official post office and PIN code data directly.
  • DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) public updates and construction progress reports, for current and under-construction metro station information, including Golden Line (Phase 4) status.
  • This site’s own previously published locality research, specifically the comprehensive locality list at southdelhirentwala.com/south-delhi/list-of-all-localities-in-south-delhi, used as a starting reference and independently cross-checked against India Post’s records rather than reproduced without verification.
  • Wikipedia and independent postal directory sites (such as pincode.net.in and mapsofindia.com), used only to corroborate India Post-sourced data, never as a sole source for a PIN code figure.

Where sources disagreed, this page follows India Post’s own data as the deciding authority. A small number of corrections were made during research where other public directories had a locality listed under an outdated or incorrect PIN code.

Postal verification process: every PIN code and post office name on this page was checked against India Post’s own records (directly or via its finkode.com mirror), not transcribed from a single secondary source.

Metro verification process: current line and station information reflects Delhi Metro’s operational network as publicly listed by DMRC; under-construction Golden Line stations are explicitly labelled as such rather than presented as operational.

What this page does not claim: it does not present search-volume rankings from keyword tools (none were used), rental or property “demand” scores (no verified market data source was used for this page), or school, hospital, police station, or constituency listings beyond the handful of specific, individually verified landmarks shown above. Presenting those without a verified source would trade accuracy for the appearance of completeness, which runs against the purpose of a postal reference page.

Last verified: July 2026. Recommended review cycle: every 6 months, or sooner if DMRC confirms a Golden Line opening date, since that will change the metro information across several PIN code sections on this page.

Final Summary

South Delhi doesn’t run on a single postal code. It’s covered by 26 distinct PIN codes, from 110003 in the north near Lodhi Gardens to 110080 on the southern border, each tied to a specific delivery post office rather than a neighbourhood boundary.

The practical takeaway is to always verify the exact locality rather than assuming a PIN code from a nearby or similarly named colony, since postal boundaries follow delivery logistics, not how residents actually group neighbourhoods.

Use the alphabetical directory to look up any locality by name, the PIN-wise directory to see every locality sharing a given code, or the metro and landmark lookup tables if you know a reference point but not the locality name. For anything going on an official document, cross-check the result against India Post’s own Pincode Search tool before submitting it.

Next steps, in order:

  1. Find your locality in the alphabetical list or the search tool.
  2. Confirm the PIN code against the matching PIN cluster section, including its boundary clarification.
  3. Check the delivery post office, not just the six digits, since forms sometimes ask for both.
  4. Visit the dedicated locality guide, where one exists, for rental pricing, metro depth, and neighbourhood character beyond the postal data here.
  5. Explore rental information through the companion rental guide if you’re actively searching for a place to live.

Need more than just the PIN code? Postal data answers one question well, but it’s rarely the only one you have. Our dedicated area guides (where published) and the complete South Delhi locality guide go further into rental pricing, metro connectivity, neighbourhood character, and what it’s actually like to live there.

For more on specific South Delhi localities beyond their postal information, including rental pricing, metro connectivity, and neighbourhood character, explore the dedicated area guides linked throughout this page, or the complete list of South Delhi localities for a fuller picture of the district.

PIN code and post office data on this page is cross-verified against India Post’s official records as of July 2026. Delhi Metro Phase 4 (Golden Line) status reflects publicly reported construction progress as of mid-2026 and is subject to change; confirm current status with DMRC before relying on it for time-sensitive travel planning. Postal boundaries are occasionally revised, so for any address used on a legal, financial, or government document, verify the final result against India Post’s Pincode Search tool at indiapost.gov.in.
